To enrol in a study programme taught in Italian, non-EU students residing abroad are required to demonstrate a B2 level knowledge of the Italian language according to the Common European Framework of Reference. Higher Education Institutions must verify language proficiency for admission to courses of study taught in Italian through the provision of Italian language proficiency tests or through the possession of a recognized language certification.

At the Politechnic University of Marche, the Italian language proficiency test is organized by our Centre for Language Support and it’s mandatory for the admission to italian taught study programmes.

The sessions are reserved with priority for prospective students who have already got a positive pre-evaluation and have started the pre-enrolment procedure on the Universitaly.it portal. Each session has a limited number of available seats (80): registrations are accepted in order of arrival and subject to requirements. A maximum of two non-consecutive attempts are accepted.

Candidates admitted to the test will receive a communication with further instructions to access the virtual classroom. Only candidates contacted in advance by e-mail are allowed to take the test.

Students who have already achieved an International Italian Certificate of proficiency, issued according to the CLIQ system (Certificazione Lingua Italiana di Qualità) and with a grade equals or above the B2 level of the Council of Europe, are exempt from taking the test. Accepted certificates are :

  • PLIDA (Dante Alighieri Society)
  • CERTIT (Univ. Roma Tre)
  • CILS (Univ. Stranieri di Siena)
  • CELI (Univ. Stranieri di Perugia)

These certifications can be obtained in the country of origin, in the approved examination centers all over the world.

We also recognise the validity of the ITA-L2 Bravo! (CISIA) tests taken at other universities in the same academic year (2026) and passed with the minimum score of 43/72.
